Spider Engraving

To take a break from piñata making, I experimented with some electric engraving onto copper. I roughly drew some spider shapes onto the copper, using some photographs of tarantula exoskeletons I had taken at the Melbourne Museum as a reference.

I printed the results of the engraving as i went, finding the first go over to be too light in ink density and not as dark and fuzzy as I had hoped. By the third test print, I was pleased with the results, the leg in the top right corner worked out the way I was hoping. It was good to revisit working with copper and I enjoyed using electric engraving on copper for the first time, but I think I might leave this project at this stage for now to concentrate on my piñata making again.
